We experience Jesus’ healing power, here among us, in ordinary gatherings in our community. We journey alongside one another through monthly men’s breakfast gatherings at Butter Bakery Cafe, through faith in feminism gatherings, and through annual women’s retreats. We joyfully share life together at community meals on Wednesday nights and at potlucks after worship. We accompany one another in our time of death through a service of visitation called “Peace at the Last,” involving all generations in singing, praying, and proclaiming God’s promises for the person who is dying. We visit one another and share in weekly prayers of the people during worship. We have prayer stations for individual prayers for healing at the baptismal font during worship at various times during the year. We care for neighbors through a helping hands fund that assists in meeting basic needs. We have intentional conversations (called 1:1s) periodically to listen to one another’s joys, concerns, values and pain. In these ways and many others, we strive to be a community that loves one another as Jesus has loved us.
