We will be having a congregational book study in October on Rev. Dr. Yolanda Denson-Byers’ book, See Me, Believe Me: A Guide to Deepen Allyship with Congregational Leaders of Color. Pastor Yolanda serves at Shepherd of the Hills in Edina, and she will be joining us to lead an adult forum and to preach in worship sometime later in the fall or winter. She is a Black, queer woman who loves the church and who has also experienced racist harm in our church. This book is a love letter and toolkit for the church so we can keep learning, do better and continue to grow as an inclusive community where we welcome the full gifts and humanity of Pastor Esther and of our new national leaders, Bishop Yehiel Curry and Secretary CeCe Mills.
If you’d like to be part of the book study, please sign up in the Narthex at church. Please sign up by September 20. We will make a congregational book order from Augsburg Fortress and will request that folks who can pay the full price to church.
We will share more about times for discussion at a later date. Looking forward to digging in with all of you!
