Why We Give

To be a steward is to care for all that we have and all that we are. As individuals, we think about our money, time, and resources in vastly different ways. We have different priorities. Still, we are all interconnected and affected by these decisions we make.

We value our church, a shared resource, not just as a beautiful building, but as a place in which the true church, our community, gathers -- for worship, relationship, service. Our staff helps to maintain this community and to implement its ministry. All of this requires money.

  • water pitcherPledges. A pledge is a one-year financial commitment to support the ministries and benevolence of Our Saviours. It allows the Council to develop a budget, ensuring money is used wisely. Pledge cards are available in the church office.
  • Non-pledged giving. Some members and friends choose to give to the general fund without pledging.
  • Mission of the Month. Each month, special offerings are taken for specific missions. A list and descriptions of our current Mission of the Month can be found here.
  • Life's Blessings and Memorial Gifts are sometimes given in memory or honor of someone, or to celebrate a special event. Pew cards are available for this purpose – or send a check with a note explaining what the gift is meant to honor or commemorate.
  • Our Saviours Lutheran Church Foundation. The Foundation was established to provide a permanent way for members and friends to benefit the ministry of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church through memorials, bequests, lifetime gifts, and similar financial gifts.

There are several convenient ways to give these gifts:

  • Online giving -- enroll for one time or pre-authorized recurring automatic deductions from a credit or debit card or checking or savings account
  • By check (write "donation" in the memo line; mail to Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 2315 Chicago Ave S, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55404.)
