Mission of the Month: Community Emergency Service

More than just our neighborhood food shelf, Community Emergency Service (CES) provides wide-ranging crisis relief. An independent nonprofit organization, it assists more than 75000 of our South Minneapolis neighbors in need, helping them find long-range, comprehensive solutions. Here are some services which are offered:

  • General Emergency Aid/Referral Assistance - client advocacy (resource finding), free legal counsel, assistance to prevent utility shutoffs, and transportation assistance.
  • Housing Program - access to emergency rental assistance to prevent eviction and assistance finding affordable housing.
  • Client Wellness/Spiritual Outreach - monthly screening for blood pressure and other basic health issues; and Christian prayer and care.
  • Food Program - daily food shelf service, food delivery to homebound neighbors, daily warm meal delivery to homebound seniors (Meals on Wheels) and Somali food assistance.

To make a contribution through Mission of the Month, please write “CES” on your check or pew envelope. To learn more about other ways to help, please visit http://www.cesmn.org/help.
