Children, Youth and Family

Our Children, Youth and Family (CYF) program gives our children a chance not only to learn about God and themselves, but also to learn about their neighbors. It also provides opportunities for adults who have gifts for children's and youth ministry to be actively involved in the growth of our young people.

Our Core Values:

  • Welcome to all
  • Justice
  • Thoughtful theological and Biblical inquiry

Our Confirmation classes and youth events (retreats, service projects, intergenerational activities and more) expose our young people to these core values. Collaborative events with neighboring congregations introduce kids to a broader community of faith.

Procedures and Policies.

Forms are required for kids who participate in most of our events. Copies of our Safe Church Policy are available. Need more information? Please contact Pastor Martha Schwehn Bardwell, 612-871-2967 option 4.

Kids are Welcome in Worship!

We expect that children will behave as children (which includes giggles and wiggles and other behaviors). We feel strongly that children learn things like reverence and the liturgy by experiencing them.  We invite children to fully participate in worship. At Our Saviours', children lead as:

  • ushers
  • singers and musicians
  • readers
  • communion servers

Of course, kids (and their parents) sometimes need a break.  In our reading corner in the Hospitality Center we offer a variety of books, a few toys, and other items.  Kids accompanied by their parents are invited to go in and out of the sanctuary as needed. For the safety of all our children, we ask that children not be left unattended during worship or other activities; please accompany your children to the bathroom or Hospitality Center.
