Auction 2020

Auction News: Now Receiving Donations!

Our Celebration of Commitment and Community fundraiser is going online this year. It will be held November 16-23. We are now receiving donations. To donate an item, event, or service, please complete this online form (it’s easy!). Suzanne will use the information you submit to create a listing on our auction website. You can preview our auction site here. You won’t be able to begin bidding on items until the auction goes “live,” but you can begin browsing the listings any time. You can also create your account now, using your name, email address, and a password, which will allow you to bid on items beginning November 16.

Some early submissions include hand-knit scarves, homemade soup, yard work, reading a Shakespeare play together on Zoom, an online presentation and Q&A about the Green New Deal, and pizza around an outdoor fire pit.

We will be accepting submissions until 8 p.m. on Sunday, November 8 to allow enough time to prepare all the site listings and populate the site.

As you think about what you might donate, OSLC church council member Patrick Herson has some suggestions: “Some of you will contribute gatherings for our fundraiser that will deepen relationships in the congregation. Think about donations that will also help us work toward the other goals that we adopted as a congregation at our annual meeting earlier this year. Do you have an event or item that may help us live into a process of better engagement with our neighbors? Or do you have a favorite devotional book or music that might also help someone nurture their interior spiritual life? How might your offerings feature the gifts of people from BIPOC communities, as we seek to dismantle white supremacy? No matter what you donate, consider how it may positively affect creation care and climate justice. Thank you for being intentional in supporting the fundraiser and one another.”

Auction News: What Can You Donate?
Our Celebration of Commitment and Community Auction is going online this year! It will run from November 16-23. Our goal is to raise $8,000 for the mission and ministry of OSLC. What could you creatively offer for auction during this time of social distancing? Here are some ideas to spark your creativity. Next week’s update will include a link to an online submission form where you can submit a description and photo of your item/s. It will also include a preview of our silent auction website, so you will have some idea of how your item/s will be displayed.

Two things to keep in mind as you think about items to donate:
  1. If you plan to offer a physical item (like food or a handmade item), it will be up to the donor and the winning bidder to coordinate delivery or pickup. Our Saviour’s staff and volunteers are unable to ship or deliver items.
  2. You may offer virtual or in-person community-building events, but in-person events should be held outdoors (distanced) or post-COVID. Standard language approved by the OSLC COVID Advisory Group will be applied to all in-person event descriptions.

Auction News: The Silent Auction Goes Online in 2020!

Over the past several years we have enjoyed a silent auction as part of our Celebration of Commitment and Community. This year the auction is moving online! And, instead of holding the auction for only an hour after worship, it will run for eight whole days, from Monday, November 16 through Monday, November 23. Our goal is to raise $8,000 for the mission and ministry of OSLC. Start thinking now about what you could creatively offer for auction during this time of social distancing. You'll be able to begin submitting your items (descriptions and images) in early October. Watch this weekly update for new information each week. You won't want to miss participating in this new way of offering your gifts and being in community with one another.
